All yoga classes currently on our schedule are based on
the physical exercises of hatha yoga, a vast subject
which can be described as a holistic lifestyle comprised
of physical exercise, moral precepts and other
disciplines involving awareness of the body, breath,
emotion and
psyche. At Dharma Studio, whether you’re doing Anusara®,
Funyasa™,
Yin Yoga, TriYoga®, Gentle, Yoga Nidra, Vinyasa
or Pre-Natal Yoga, all classes will involve hatha yoga.
To varying degrees, teachers will incorporate
breath-awareness and meditation in class, or focus on
detailed physical alignment to increase strength and
flexibility. Some classes are strenuous and
fast-paced, while others are gentle and slow. Students
are guided through a sequence of physical postures,
emphasizing awareness of the breath by linking movements
to its rhythm, allowing both the physical body and the
mind to be calmed inthe process. We encourage you to
speak with your teacher if you have questions or special
concerns. Below you’ll find a description ofeach
approach. To learn more about the teachers,

Christy Nones, Peter Barber and Jason Lawner
all
teach Anusara®,
a school of hatha yoga which unifies a life-affirming
Tantric philosophy of intrinsic goodness with Universal
Principles of Alignment. Founded by John Friend in
1997, this popular style of yoga emphasizes that rather
than trying to control the bodyand mind from the
outside, the poses can originate internally, from our
deeply creative and devotional core. Each Anusara®
instructor is personally trained and certified to teach
by the founder himself. The classes are safe, dynamic
and challenging and the message is steeped
in tradition. To learn more, visit

Natalie’s Funyasa™
is all about celebrating the joy of
movement. Each class is designed as an uplifting tribute
to the complete person: physical body, reactionary mind,
luminous soul. Poses are linked playfully by the breath's
rhythm, inviting joy into the practice with kinetic
variations, all kinds of balancing poses, deep delicious
stretches and more. Students make their own cathartic
exploration of the body, through a sensual mélange of
poses emphasizing sensation.
Everyone finds their own way to move intuitively,
intelligently through challenging sequences, staying
true to principles of healthy alignment. For more

Brandi’s
Yoga Flow
starts with traditional pranayama
(breathing exercises), followed by a long warm-up and a
challenging sequence of poses that flow seamlessly from
one to another. Throughout the class she focuses on the
importance of physical alignment and of detachment
from the ego’s need to compare and control. She’s
passionate about self-expression and self-acceptance and
weaves this message through every class she teaches.
She’s known for the deeply relaxing savasana she guides
her students through at the end of the practice. You’ll
leave her class feeling centered, your body physically
relaxed and your mind clear.
Natalie’s
Yoga Nidra
class is at once challenging and deeply relaxing.
The entire practice is taught on the floor,
exploring low-to-the-ground poses that require
strength and build heat in thebody without being
treacherous. Afterwards, through guided imagery and
techniques of systematic release, students may
arrive at a state of suspended consciousness, of
profound physical and mental relaxation. Yoga Nidra
literally means “the sleep of a yogi”, described as a
state of mind between wakefulness and dreaming.
This style of guided relaxation has been found to
alleviate tension, anxiety and symptoms
post-traumatic stress. It's said that half an
hour of Yoga Nidra can replace three hours of sleep,
and students can testify to this.

Loree’s slow-paced
Stretchy Yoga
and
Gentle Yoga
classes seem mild but are deeply effective and
meditative. In both of these classes, poses are
sequenced to create comfort in the body and mind.
Students stay close to the mat, often supporting the
body with props
to release tightness and restore energy without using
excessive effort or fighting gravity. Gentle Yoga is
appropriate for students of all levels from beginners to
advanced, including athletes, people in search of
stress-relief, seniors and anyone nursing injuries.
These classes are a nice complement to a rigorous,
athletic practice, and a welcome antidote to the stress
provoked by modern life.

The Yoga Lowdown:
For most of this class, the work occurs on the floor,
hence the name. But just because we stay close to the
mat doesn't mean this class is necessarily "easy."
Traditional poses are combined with modern techniques of
physical therapy, and everyone is encouraged to explore
personal and problematic tight-spots in the body. By
using foam rollers, we address deep myo-fascial tension
and trigger release, focusing on yoga as therapy.
Because we rarely stand up, and since everyone is guided
to work at their own pace and within their own comfort
zone, this class is appropriate for all levels, from the
beginner to advanced

Heather's
Skanda Yoga Class is a
breath-inspired, alignment-based, power vinyasa
practice, embodying techniques from many systems. This
style was founded by Miami local Ken von Roenn III, and
is designed to celebrate the union of Shiva/Shakti,
using the Maya Calendar to set an intention for each
day, and each class. Using a heart-opening approach,
Heather blends his years of training in the Anusara

Loree, Debra Lee and
Michelle teach Vinyasa Yoga, a style that
balances
physical exertion with sensitivity. Tough sequences are
presented
with great detail to alignment, retraining the muscular
and skeletal
systems to promote equilibrium and healing. It’s true
that this style
of yoga will help tone the body and improve agility, but
the
underlying message is one of self-acceptance and
surrender. By
releasing the tension trapped in the body, you’ll
experience a
lightness of being and a clarity of mind that will leave
you feeling
strong, refreshed and relaxedd

Dashi Chu
Kocica teaches TriYoga®,
a style that closely resembles the flowing movements of
Qigong and Taiji. This complete and revolutionary system
of yoga incorporates wave-like movements of the spine
with slow-motion kriyas, movements in and out of
a posture, that help bring prana (life force)
into the joints before the posture is sustained. Based
on kriyvati (spontaneous kundalini flows)
experienced by its American founder KaliRay, the
postures are presented in an orderly sequence from basic
to advanced. In TriYoga
Flows™ the
trinity of asana (posture), pranayama
(breath) and mudra (mental focus) are fully
integrated into the rhythmic breath. This gentle and
precise style is beneficial for beginners and
enlightening for advanced students. Props are utilized
to improve alignment and support the body in relaxation.
